Testimonial from a family (She is a Vet tech.) that added one of our boxers to their home years ago.

About nine months ago Penelope (Her Boxer Dog) had a syncope episode. I don't know if you know what that means, but she was just standing in the middle of our living room and then suddenly passed out. She stopped breathing and her heart was very slow for about 15 to 20 seconds. She then suddenly pop back up and acted like nothing happened. We brought her into the Vet Clinic immediately and she got x-rays of her chest taken and her blood drawn. Everything seemed to be pretty normal. So we set up an appointment to get an echocardiogram done.

About two weeks later, we had an echocardiogram with a specialist. Her heart walls were rather thin, and her heart only contracted 19%. The Specialist did not know if this was due to her being so athletic, or if there was an underlying heart condition. He prescribed us to have her be on a taurine supplement for 6 months. He also recommended changing her food. Her food was Blue Buffalo grain-free. We did the changes he recommended and recently had her echocardiogram redone. Her heart is now back to normal, her heart walls have more than doubled in size, and her contract ability is now 34%. This is an amazing change per the specialist! He said her issues were 100% due to the food that she was on.

I don't know if you have heard about the new research with grain-free Foods. It is recommended to stay off grain-free Foods due to they are high in legumes. Like humans and dogs block the uptake of taurine. Which pretty much means their heart is starving and slowly degrades over time causing dilated cardiomyopathy. Penney's dilated cardiomyopathy has now been reversed, and she is an amazing health!

This would be the same for cats.. Please do your research and do not feed Grain free commercial pet food.
